Omar is a Supply and Sourcing Professional leader with a broad depth of industry experience helping private, and public companies optimize their Procurement process. Omar began his career working for the City of Austin, helping develop Purchasing procedures for the city and even help pass legislation to adopt healthy fruit options in city vending machines. Omar then spent time with the Dow Chemical Company in Texas and Michigan. His roles encompassed Supply Chain sustainability on reducing fuel emissions, Bulk Marine sourcing, and Engineering sourcing. Omar has also worked in the New York City Area at Unilever. There he spent his time in the Marketing Procurement team for global brands like Dove Soap, Magnum Ice Cream, St. Ives Lotion, and more procuring deals in Public Relations, Media and Advertising, Digital, and Event launches. From there, Omar expanded his scope to leading Indirect Sourcing for Lyft in San Francisco. He spent more than a year and a half sourcing hundreds of deals in Marketing, Growth Marketing, IT Software, Customer Operations, HR Services, Legal services, and Travel partnerships. Over the last year, Omar led a Procurement Operations team, helping Lyft prepare for IPO readiness from a purchasing standpoint and work on all SOX compliance efforts post IPO. Omar grew up in Houston, Texas, is a loyal Longhorn and a Supply Chain Management graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. Omar will also be an MBA graduate this May from San Francisco State University. His interests include Hiking, Camping, Traveling, Tasting and writing reviews on food everywhere he goes, spending time with family in Texas, playing Tennis and Cycling.
